This retreat focuses on the three Holy Days leading up to Easter: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Time is spent together in reflection on the events and symbols of these days. There is so much to learn from Jesus during this Holy Time, things he wanted to teach us through his words, his behavior and finally by his example.
Designed to be conducted the weekend before Holy Week, this retreat begins with a traditional Seder Dinner, highlighting the Christian symbols that permeate this Jewish holiday.
The remainder of this retreat focuses on the three historic days leading up to Easter:
- Maundy Thurday – The promised gift of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit is searched out through a journaling exercise.
- Good Friday – The crucifixion of Christ is explored through music, art, painting and other craft mediums.
- Holy Saturday – The expectation of Christ return in examined through a group “lectio divina.”
This retreat concludes with participants sharing their reflections during a group activity. The women are dismissed with encouragement to look for the Hope of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday as well as in everyday life.
